This week after the doors opened at 4.15pm, members started to arrive. As we were waiting, one member declared how he was impressed as the dinner lady at his school now remembers how he likes his jacket potato and has it ready for him automatically. This led to a lively discussion of what the best potato toppings are.
Once all members were present, we began with our humming warm up followed by a rhythmic challenge. We used the call and response method to learn a short melody whilst alternating clapping and tapping our thighs. Whilst we clapped and tapped we sang the words ‘Dum, Dum, dadadada, Dum, Dum dada’. The challenge was to keep time with Kate as she gradually sped up. We went crazy fast at the end which was a lot of fun and caused some major giggles.
Kate and Tom then taught us the remaining songs for our Winter Wonderland concert with the main focus being on the words and rhythm of ‘The 12 Venues of Christmas Market’. Fitting some of the words in was a little tricky in places but everyone agrees that we love ‘Hot Choc-O-Late’.
