Choir Reminder:                                                                                                             The food bank are desperate for donations as we go towards the winter time and all the difficulties that brings for families. Looking for tins, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. It would also be great if you could provide something that is a bit more of a treat, items that are harder for people to fund themselves.

Blog:                                                                                                                          Tonight we are going to run all our songs and just see what needs extra work and what is already secure for most people . This is where the YouTube recordings are so useful if you have some time in the week when you have a chance to sit down and refresh some of the tunes on your own. It is great to be able to practice your part, then put it together with the other groups. Can’t believe how quickly the weeks have flown by and how close the various performances are creeping ever closer!

It was lovely and warm in the hall this evening - another reason to come and sing with us, then you don’t need to put your heating on at home!
As we ran through the programme some songs were better than others. For example we decided to repeat the first half of one of the list, rather than learn a more complex section that we hadn’t yet started to tackle. As Katy said the audience have no idea how the song is written down they don’t know what to expect. There are some completely new songs sprinkled with some of the old favourites (Deck the hall, Ding Dong merrily on high) so there is something for everyone.

Most wonderful time of the year: was fast and furious. Wow we really raced through this with Katy reminding us if we find it hard to sing, imagine what it is like to play and sing: fair point. Deep breath and just go for it, hopefully some of the audience will join in and maybe cover some of our gaps because we need a breath!

Mary’s boy child caused some of us to join in too early. We need to remember to count 1, 2, 3, 4 between some sections, otherwise you are suddenly performing a solo. It was a busy programme and Katy fills in with interesting information. For example Rudolph was produced at the time around Covid and the album never really took off. She suggested that we might want to look it up as there are some great tracks, both solos and duets. Katy can’t wait to hear us all perform this, although I have to say there is a strange ending that seems to fade to nothing, almost as though we need to turn the page to finish it off in another way.

It was a great practice and showed us where some of the gaps are. In November we need to look I’ll be home and Santa Claus. Everything else is moving along in the right direction, after all it is still October (just) 😉.
