Lots of smiles as we welcome each other back after our Christmas break, on a very cold winter’s night (sounds like a song!).
Warm up included lots of different nonsense words : going up the scale repeating the sounds, until we hit our limit (and then drop an octave).

Always good fun looking at the new music we have been given for the start of the term. We have ”Heartache Tonight”, an Eagles song and the altos looked at their part first. When there are 3 new sections it always feels daunting at the first attempt (but we always get there eventually, just working on small sections a little at a time).
Next out was the Four Tops hit “I Can’t Help Myself”. Because lots of us know this tune we soon were able to join in and it lends itself very nicely to group singing.
Our next piece is “It’s Delovely “. New to us all, Katy suggested that we should listen to the Robbie Williams version of the song, and this will help us. Need to follow the words carefully, as there are some lines that are little tongue twisters.
"Invisible String" (Taylor Swift) was an unknown tune and we listened to Katy as she played and sang, giving us a feel for the melody of the piece. It seemed quite fast at first, even though the lyrics have the feel of a ballad. Suspect this will be one of those songs that we are a little wary of at first, but then come to really enjoy later.
Finished off with “Living On A Prayer “ and “What a Wonderful World“.
Very fitting finale to end the evening.
