Three big cheers for Harry! After having a week off, our lovely pianist Harry returned for our Monday evening rehearsal. As Katy was free from the confines of a piano stool, she sang/conducted from soprano 1, which made for a much fuller sound as we were a little thin on the ground tonight. I'm sure our one remaining upper soprano was grateful to have another body!
We began the evening with 'Hope' is the thing with feathers, a piece that is slowly worming its way into my heart. What once brought frustration is now leaving me very satisfied when we nail a few of the trickier harmonies. Personally, I need to practice this song a bit more, to smooth down some of the wonky notes, but what an opportune time as next week we're off for the bank holiday.
Next up was Heroes, a Eurovision classic (did everyone watch on Saturday??), as Harry wanted to have a practice of the piece. It turned out to be a fantastic idea, as Katy found a few stylistic things that needed tweaking vocally. It's going to be a banger!
Staying with the Eurovision theme, Beg, Steal Or Borrow was up next. We haven't massively delved into this one yet, but what a fun tune it is! A few more rehearsals and I think this one will be another sparkler.
To conclude the evening, we sang Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson. Somehow i've been tasked with some offbeat clicking... Dear reader, please keep your fingers crossed for my poor brain that struggles with sight reading at the best of times... 1, click, 2, click... or something like that.
Tickets will soon be going on sale for our concert in aid of Heartbeat, so keep an eye on our tickets page / our socials!
