This week at choir we did some nice warm ups, although some were quite energetic, involving clapping every time a letter O was included in the word we sang, and then standing up or sitting down (depending what position we were in at the time) everytime we sang a word beginning with B.
During the rehearsal we practised 3 songs, all of them uplifting. Happy Together, a song from the 1960s was a particular challenge for the basses involving a lot of ‘do, do, do’ suddenly turning into ‘baba’ or ‘papa’. It was fun for the rest of us!
We worked on You Raise me up, a beautiful hit from 2003, and Corn, an unusual song from a musical called Shucks, which means we all have to sing ‘Ah maize’ in a tone of amazement and wonder. I’m still asking myself if this is a play on words but maybe I'll have an answer when we’ve finished the song.
