Warm-ups had started when I arrived as I was a bit late. Apologies! Katy was at the piano (Carol wasn’t there tonight) and Kate was enthusiastically warming everyone up and choir members were enthusiastically responding. I think we’ve all missed our singing over the last week!
The last warm up we did, which was the first one for me tonight, involved clapping and stomping so warmed us up in more ways than one. It required concentration too as each part had something different to sing. It was fun!
The actual singing started with ‘Winter Wonderland’ with Tom at the helm. We worked on the refrain, which we started last week. It’s a lovely tune with lovely words and it didn’t seem to matter that Christmas is months away.
Next we did ‘Star Carol,’ which I found interesting as we only seem to sing half sentences. Again, it’s a lovely tune with lovely words. We practiced the first verse and the refrain. The words need a lot of practice as they are a bit challenging.
We finished with ‘Rudolph’. This is very rousing and conjures up images of the reindeer flying through the skies of the world the coldness and the children waiting for him. It was a good way to end the practice.
