I don't know about you, but two weeks without a choir rehearsal had left my brain feeling a little rusty as I opened our first piece of music for the evening. Life Has Loveliness was Katys first pick and although we were still getting into the swing of things, I have to say, it sounded beautiful.
Monday evening became a rehearsal of "what's scaring you?" and "what haven't we practiced enough?" as our concert date is quickly approaching. I enjoy these styles of rehearsal, as 9-times-out-of-10 you realise you're alot more confident than you think you are. As our concert is in aid of Heartbeat, a local cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation charity, we decided to run through the song Heartbeats next. Once again, not as terrifying as initially thought!
Hope is a thing with feathers was up next. Now this was quite a suprise as we have yet to tackle the first page or so of this arrangement, so our sight reading brains really had to concentrate. Many a giggle was had at our slightly wonky rendition, but no stress, we'll perfect that one next week! Following that, but sticking to the more literary theme, we sang through Now Is The Time, a beautiful piece inspired by a quote by scientist Marie Curie.
We finished off the evening with a quick whizz through of Beg, Steal or Borrow and ended with All Kinds of Everything, which I now know isn't a hymn, and is in fact a Eurovision hit... Yes I was laughed at... rightfully so...
