As the door swings open at the clubhouse, excitement is like newly popped Champagne, (well near enough). We are still high from last Sunday’s Longton Festival performance which went down very well with all who attended and members of KTB who worked their skills particularly to bring off a very professional performance from the children. We were so grateful to the weather for keeping us dry if not warm.

The focus now is on Chew’s Yard and preparation for our next “ lift the roof” booking which we enjoyed last year. We are handed folders for the songs / hymns and a list to be included and the evening proceeds with the Warm Up, quite a lot of Na’s and Ya’s and hilarity. Talk was again about the childrens’ input at the Festival and I was pleased to mention how much effort it takes with young children, (well done Kate Males).

We began with the rousing and popular “Feliz Navidad”, (the iPad wants to call it Felixstowe). When we are confident it shines through so a good one to start with, then “While Shepherds Watched” in which someone sang the Descant which sounded fine.
“Bon Di” next, which is really growing on me, “Somewhere in My Memory” is satisfying to sing. Then whoosh – the choir were on their feet for “Walking in the Air,” which felt like we were paying Homage to Howard Blake’s transcendent lyrics and music. My lungs can’t quite manage the longer notes. “Gaudette“ causes a groan which makes me laugh as it always sounds great and we sang it a capella tonight.

By the time we got to “Bring Your Torch”, (a bit of light relief), “Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace,” (beautiful and soothing), finishing with “Carol of the Bells” and the resounding “Ding Dong Merrily on High,” I was feeling my age but of course in the nicest possible way! A good lively session was had by all. Thank you Katy, you’re forgiven.
