It’s nearly show time! There’s one more rehearsal next week, when we will join up with singers from the other KTB Music choirs, but otherwise, that’s it for Musical Theatre Chorus sessions before Longton’s Winter Wonderland event. As you might imagine, this week’s rehearsal was a very busy one.
We now have the complete list of songs we’ll be singing on 30 November 2025. I won’t tell you all of them because I don’t want to give you too many spoilers, but let’s get into a few of the hits on the setlist.
We can’t wait to hear you singing along with us all for “Merry Christmas Everyone” (Shakin’ Stevens), “Merry Christmas” (Ed Sheeran & Elton John), and Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree”, and we’ll have you reliving your primary school days with “Starry Night” and “Ding Dong Merrily On High (The Celebration’s Starting)”.
For anyone unsure about what’s on offer at the Winter Wonderland event, KTB Music’s very own Kate Males has crafted a musical solution. It’s brilliant. That’s all I’m saying. You’ll have to turn up to find out more.
We’re also still rehearsing for our Chew’s Yard performance on 7 December, so we brushed up our Latin with “Gaudete!”, and even found time for a little segue into the history of Latin as a language (the range of things you can learn at chorus might surprise you). We then put on our best angel voices for “Angels From The Realms Of Glory” – honestly, Katy said we sounded angelic. A high compliment, that is.
The highlight of the whole session in terms of musical progress was when we absolutely smashed “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, in one go. You’ll understand when you hear it that we definitely earned the right to move on and get cosy with “Text Me Merry Christmas” (Straight No Chaser with Kristen Bell) and “I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter” (Connie Francis).
After a very brief dip into “Without Love” from Hairspray, we wrapped up (musically) with “There Is A Santa Claus” from Elf: The Musical, followed much too soon by wrapping up (physically) to head home. The temperature certainly took a sharp turn into cold this week, didn’t it?
Some people have already put up their decorations, and the seasonal adverts have begun. If you’re looking for ways to get into the festive mood, check out the upcoming KTB Music events. We’d love to see you there!
