KTB Music teacher Tom has spent a week away from KTB HQ to attend Sherborne Summer School of Music as part of their Wind Ensemble Course. Playing the alto saxophone he took part in invaluable lessons, workshops and recitals, whilst getting the opportunity to support fellow students in their own musical endevours.

When asked about the trip, Tom said "It was a valuable week away performing and learning new refreshing repertoir. I played alto saxophone alongside other wind ensemble musicians, and made many new friends whilst I was away. I particularly enjoyed playing Bacchus on Blue Ridge as the time signature changes kept us on our toes. I really learnt a lot from our conductors and will be taking those lessons forward to Monday Choir and the KTB Band."

Whilst in Dorset, Tom took part in a choral workshop, performed in multiple wind ensembles, took part in a cabaret night as one fourth of a saxophone quartet and watched a large variety of student recitals. Some of the recitals he watched included bass clarinet & piano, a chambre organ, composers workshops (a course he attended in 2024) and a sinfonia.

Take a look at our soical media pages to see more about his fabulous week away. Tom can't wait to introduce lots of new ideas to KTB Music, his lessons, the KTB Band and the KTB Choir.
