The choir practice this week and last were both spent practising for the up-coming concert so we didn’t learn anything new although there was some new music given out. We went through the songs quickly and both practices moved on very fast for me. 8 o’clock soon came round. Among the songs we did were ‘Drive my Car’, ‘Teddy Bears’ Picnic’, ‘This Old Man’, ‘Heave Away’, ‘Yellow’, ‘O Waly Waly’, ‘All in the April Evening’ and we just had time to do ‘Fields of Gold’ at the end of the rehearsal on 9th March. What a good variety of songs we do and what a lot of enjoyment was had.
One of the songs we did have to work on a bit and not mentioned above was ‘One Vision’, a wonderful Queen song. It’s great to sing but not the easiest. We spent time going through the middle bit about the dream, where each part sings a different bit. We put it together and all of us sang all of it, which was good fun and made a lot of sense. Katy certainly knows how to bring things together for us so we understand the meaning of what we sing.
